PAS 125
What is PAS125?

It is an industry agreed specification for the process of the vehicle body repair.
This can be broken down into 4 main areas:
Methods / People / Equipment / Materials

How do I start the process?

Call Britannia Accident Assist and book your free analysis.  This will highlight the areas of concentration, where you need to budget and roughly how long it will take.  We can also look at the funding options available to you and create a ‘time line’ for the completion of tasks required.  Once you have confident in your processes and have the relevant training in place we can help arrange the Pre-License Audit.  On completion of the audit we will also assist in completing any Corrective Actions you may have.  Simple as that!!

How long will the whole implementation process take?

This depends on how responsive you and your staff are to implementing the standard and which training route you decide to take (NVQ3 takes approximately 6 months).  With this in mind, you should expect the whole procedure to take between 6 & 8 months.  This will see a successful imbedded process and fully informed staff.  Any longer than 12 months and you are in danger of loosing momentum!

What are the benefits in achieving the kitemark?

•    Achieving a higher hourly rate
•    Attracting and maintaining business
•    Powerful Marketing tool
•    Reaching a recognised industry standard – now seen as a necessary requirement for most Work Providers
•    Trust & Confidence – Kitemark shows you are serious about the safety of the repairs you produce
•    Reduced Costs – Rectification work lowered

How much will it cost?

Obviously this depends on the equipment you may require and the staff you have to train.  However you will expect to pay the following for the Pre Licence Audit, Licence costs and surveillance visits:
•    Pre Licence Audit - £1352
•    Licence - £1240
•    Surveillance visits - £1352

I am already Manufacturer approved, will this help?

Yes – this is a great start!
You no doubt have and adhere to processes and procedures, have suitable and fully maintained equipment & tools, use a recognised Estimating system and use the correct materials. The only thing you may have to concentrate on is specific training – which Britannia Assist can help fund.

How do I know if I have the correct equipment?

You have to have suitable equipment available for the task in hand.  In short you must have:
•    Jig
•    Mig / Mig Braze / Invertaspot Welder
•    Paint Spray Booth
•    Dust Extraction
•    Estimating Systems
•    Access to Recognised Repair Methods
The best course of action would be to book a free gap audit with Britannia Assist who can then advise on the suitability of the equipment you have and funding options if you do require further items.
